The Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) have officially named two Brazilian nationals as suspects in the premeditated murder of foreign national Rene Pouw. Director of General Criminal Investigation ( Direskrimum ) Senior Commisioner I Gede Adhi Mulyawarman, accompanied by Head of Badung Regional Police Commisioner Police Joseph Edward Purba on Saturday 28 March 2026 in Bali Police HQ.
This breakthrough follows an intensive investigation conducted by the Badung Resort Police and North Kuta Sector Police since the violent incident occurred last Tuesday.

Incident Chronology: Ambush in a Dead-End Alley
The tragic event unfolded on Monday night (March 23, 2026) at approximately 10:00 PM WITA. According to statements from the reporting witness, the victim was walking his dog in front of Villa Amira on Jalan Raya Semer, Kerobokan.
Suspicion arose when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle entered the villa’s alley, which is a dead end. While the victim directed the witness to check the villa’s door, the perpetrators launched a brutal assault. Pouw was attacked with a sharp weapon, sustaining fatal lacerations to his neck, left cheek, hands, and back. Despite being rushed to BIMC Hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect Identities and Investigation
Under Police Report Number: LP/B/27/III/2026/SPKT/SEK.KUTAR/POLRES BADUNG, a joint task force moved swiftly to process the crime scene and pursue the leads. On Saturday (March 28, 2026), authorities identified the two Brazilian men as the primary suspects:
• Darlan Bruno Lima San Ana (35)
• Kalyl Hyorran (28)
Both individuals were reportedly staying at Fullmoon Homestay on Gang Lotus 3, Jalan Pantai Berawa. Preliminary findings suggest the suspects had conducted surveillance on the victim’s activities prior to the execution of the crime.

Evidence Seized
During searches of the suspects’ temporary residence and the crime scene, police secured several critical pieces of evidence, including:
• Weaponry: A knife blade without a handle, recovered from a pool of blood at the scene.
• Vehicles: A black Honda Vario (DK 4366 FDF) used for surveillance, and a blue Honda Vario (DK 2722 FDG) used during the execution.
• Personal Effects: A black Soma-brand singlet, Calvin Klein underwear, and a pair of white Adidas sandals belonging to the victim left at the scene.
Legal Charges
The two suspects are currently in custody pending further investigation. They face multiple charges under the Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP) relating to Premeditated Murder, Murder, and/or Maltreatment Resulting in Death.
”The investigation has progressed rapidly. From the initial crime scene processing to the formal naming of suspects, it took only four days,” authorities stated in a written release. “We are committed to resolving this case to maintain safety and security within the Bali jurisdiction.”
“Badung Regional Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Joseph. E Purba, has urged the Balinese public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities within their neighborhoods. Furthermore, the authorities have called on residents to immediately report any criminal incidents occurring in their vicinity to the police or via the emergency hotline at 110.”
