Featuring over 30 GT3 cars from 17 nations, the event solidifies The Mandalika’s status as a premier global sportainment destination.
The thunderous roar of GT3 engines, the adrenaline of world-class drivers, and the roar of the crowd are set to return to the Mandalika International Circuit from May 1–3, 2026. Hosting rounds 3 and 4 of the GT World Challenge Asia 2026, the event promises more than just elite motorsport; it serves as a grand stage where high-speed competition meets Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage in a singular, immersive experience.
The Mandalika continues to assert its dominance as a leading sportainment tourism hub. This year’s concept transcends the track, blending a high-velocity competitive atmosphere with an opening ceremony steeped in cultural values to captivate global audiences.
Taufik Hidayat, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, emphasized the strategic importance of the event for the national sports ecosystem. “Beyond world-class racing, the GT World Challenge Asia is pivotal to our national sports strategy. It showcases Indonesia’s capacity as an international host, stimulates athlete development, and strengthens sport tourism as a sustainable strategic sector,” he stated.
The 2026 return builds on the momentum of a successful 2025 season, which drew approximately 9,000 spectators over the race weekend. The event’s digital footprint was equally impressive, garnering over 1.2 million views on YouTube, including a significant market penetration in China with 3.1 million views, totaling 188,900 hours of watch time.
Veronica H. Sisilia, Commercial Director of InJourney, noted that as a strategic orchestrator in aviation and tourism, InJourney views the 2026 race as a key driver for nation branding.
“With 46 participants from 17 countries, this event carries a powerful global impression,” Sisilia said. “It serves as an effective promotional tool and a primary engine for increasing Mandalika’s appeal. Moving forward, we expect this event to not only elevate Mandalika’s profile but also provide a tangible contribution to regional economic growth.”
Adding to this, Ahmad Fajar, Interim President Director of ITDC, highlighted the local economic impact. “The consistency of international events creates a real multiplier effect—from increased hotel occupancy and SME growth to new investment opportunities. ITDC remains committed to providing a global-standard, integrated, and sustainable ecosystem,” he remarked.

A Modern Cultural Showcase
The 2026 opening ceremony has been reimagined as a modern, immersive production. Featuring visual elements inspired by Mount Rinjani, Mount Tambora, the Garuda, and the Red and White national colors, the performance will involve 500 local talents in a cross-regional dance and music collaboration, narrating Indonesia’s story of unity and diversity.
International Grid and Local Empowerment
The competition will see a formidable lineup of 23 GT3 cars and 46 drivers representing 17 nations, including Japan, China, Australia, France, the USA, and Indonesia.
Benjamin Franassovici, Director of SRO Motorsport Asia, praised Mandalika’s unique identity: “Mandalika stands out globally because it offers a motorsport experience that is technically sound yet culturally distinct. This integration is what makes it a highlight on the international calendar. We aim to continue diversifying event activations to expand the fan base and ensure the sustainability of Indonesia’s motorsport ecosystem.”
The event also champions local empowerment, employing approximately 500 workers from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in strategic roles such as marshals and hospitality staff.
