Eyewitness – DENPASAR The Denpasar Police (Polresta Denpasar) has successfully dismantled a series of narcotics operations involving both local residents and a foreign national from Belarus. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Mapolresta Lobby on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Denpasar Police Chief, Grand Commissioner (Kombespol) Leonardo Simatupang, flanked by the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, Commissioner (Kompol) I Komang Agus Dharmayana, detailed the department’s achievements in combating drug trafficking from early January to April 2026.
Massive Seizures and Network Breakdown
The Police Chief revealed that authorities have processed 40 narcotics cases involving 42 male suspects, all of whom are alleged to be distributors. Among the suspects are two repeat offenders (residivists) who were apprehended during targeted operations by the Denpasar Narcotics Unit.
The total evidence seized during this period is substantial:
• 1.2 kg of Methamphetamine (Sabu)
• 2,152 Ecstasy pills
• 1 kg of Marijuana
• 285.3 grams of Synthetic Tobacco
• 33.69 grams of Cocaine

The Belarusian Connection
A significant highlight of the briefing was the arrest of a Belarusian national. Commissioner I Komang Agus Dharmayana explained that the suspect was apprehended at a targeted hotel following a joint investigation with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) in Jakarta and Customs officials in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
The investigation began with an intercepted package containing approximately 483.5 grams of marijuana. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence uncovered 33.69 grams of cocaine, which had been sent from Georgia. The narcotics were reportedly packaged professionally to evade detection and were intended for distribution within Bali. The suspect now faces a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Protecting the Community
In a separate operation, a collaboration between the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) and the Denpasar Narcotics Unit successfully intercepted 2,152 ecstasy pills destined for entertainment venues across Denpasar.
”By preventing the circulation of these substances, we have potentially saved approximately 30,000 lives, particularly within the Balinese community,” stated the Narcotics Chief.
The Police Chief also noted that local dealers continue to use the “drop-off” (menempel) method, leaving drugs at predetermined street corners or coordinates to avoid direct contact.
Public Appeal
Grand Commissioner Leonardo Simatupang concluded the briefing with an urgent appeal to the public. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking that could endanger the community. Information can be relayed directly to the police or via the toll-free emergency hotline at 110.
