Made Purnama Damayanti, Vice President of Commercial & Relations for The Nusa Dua, stated that the training aims to build simple, actionable environmental management habits that community members can implement directly.

”Through this program, we want to foster awareness that organic waste management can begin at home and within our immediate surroundings. Producing eco-enzymes is a simple step that not only helps reduce residual waste but also benefits our daily environment. We hope participants gain new insights and feel motivated to consistently practice and share this knowledge within their respective neighborhoods. Gradually, this can evolve into a collective habit supporting better environmental stewardship,” she said.

During the workshop, participants received both theoretical insights and hands-on training on converting household organic waste into eco-enzymes—a fermented liquid derived from organic waste that serves as a natural fertilizer and eco-friendly cleaning agent. The session featured I Made Tirta Jati, Chairman of the TPS3R Sadu Sumerta Kaja Unit in Denpasar, as the keynote speaker.

Moving beyond the classroom, the program includes a two-month mentorship phase to monitor the participants’ eco-enzyme production, ensure the practical application of the material, and document the outcomes of their independent waste processing efforts.

This initiative is part of ITDC’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) program, which aligns with community development goals in The Nusa Dua area. In line with this vision, ITDC views community engagement as a crucial element in establishing a high-quality, sustainable tourism destination. For ITDC, local involvement is vital to maintaining the estate’s standards and strengthening a culture of environmental care around its destinations.

”We believe that the quality of an area is built not only through infrastructure but also through a shared commitment to environmental preservation.
