An Australian national, Cronin Brianna Lani, 30, was found dead after falling off a cliff at Kelingking Beach in Bunga Mekar Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, on Saturday morning (12/9/2026).

”According to field reports, the victim is estimated to have fallen around 9:00 AM. At the time, she was navigating an unpaved path toward the edge of the cliff before slipping and plunging into the ravine,” said Cakra Negara, Coordinator of the Nusa Penida Alert Unit, in a statement.

The incident was first reported by a local resident, Mr. Pageh, at approximately 9:50 AM WITA.

”Upon receiving orders from leadership, we dispatched a rescue team to the scene and coordinated with other SAR elements to conduct evacuation efforts,” he explained.

Falling into an 80 meter deep ravine the victim was successfully brought to the top following a arduous 1.5-hour operation

Cakra added that the initial plan to evacuate the victim by sea had to be aborted due to high tidal waves along the shoreline.

Rescuers subsequently carried out a manual evacuation by ascending the Kelingking Beach stairs.

”When located, the victim had sustained multiple fractures. We secured her on a stretcher to facilitate the evacuation process,” Cakra clarified.

The steep and narrow climbing route posed significant challenges for the rescue team. The victim was successfully brought to the top following a arduous 1.5-hour operation.

”The victim was then transported to the Griya Penida Clinic via a Griya Penida ambulance,” he concluded.

The Search and Rescue operation involved several entities, including the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) Nusa Penida Post, Nusa Penida Police, Nusa Penida Lifeguards (Balawista), Bunga Mekar Village Babinsa, Griya Penida Clinic, and local residents.
