”We urge the public and tourists to remain cautious and avoid situations that present opportunities for criminal activity, such as traveling alone late at night, visiting secluded areas, or consuming alcohol to excess,” stated Senior Commissioner Mulyawarman.
The suspects are being charged under the Indonesian Criminal Code relating to sexual violence and physical assault. If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
