DENPASAR – A sudden closure of airspace across several Middle Eastern nations has disrupted travel plans for over a thousand international travelers departing from Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Communication and Legal Division Head of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, confirmed that several key routes have faced significant delays or cancellations. Despite the regional disruption, overall airport operations in Bali remain functional.
”Following the closure of airspace in several countries, a number of flight routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport have experienced delays and/or schedule adjustments,” Asmadi stated in an official update on Sunday, March 1, at 11:00 PM.
Flight Disruptions and Cancellations
As of Sunday night, five major international flights have been officially impacted:
• Etihad EY477 (Denpasar to Abu Dhabi): Postponed.
• Emirates EK369 (Denpasar to Dubai): Cancelled.
• Qatar Airways QR963 (Denpasar to Doha): Cancelled.
• Emirates EK399 (Denpasar to Dubai): Cancelled.

Passenger Handling and Coordination
Data provided by the airlines indicates that 1,631 passengers were affected by these five specific flight adjustments. PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) is currently coordinating with multiple agencies to manage the situation.
”We are working closely with airlines to update flight schedules and assist passengers currently at the terminal,” Asmadi added. “We are also in constant communication with AirNav Indonesia to monitor the affected airspace and with security personnel to ensure a safe environment at the airport.”
Management has advised all affected travelers to contact their respective airline offices immediately for further assistance regarding rebooking or accommodation.
