BADUNG – Officers at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) of the Ngurah Rai Special Class I Immigration Office have successfully intercepted an alleged illegal entry attempt involving the use of counterfeit documents. The perpetrators, a family of three Iraqi nationals, were caught attempting to enter Indonesian territory using forged Belgian passports, on fight Emitares EK368.
Following an initial investigation and deepening probe by TPI officers, the three foreign nationals were immediately handed over to the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement (Inteldakim) division of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office for further processing. According to a search of the centralized immigration database and international security networks, the individuals were not found on any blacklist or Interpol HIT list.
As a follow-up to the administrative and enforcement proceedings, the three Iraqi nationals were officially deported from Indonesia on March 2, 2026. They departed from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on flight AK375 at 21:05 WITA, bound for Kuala Lumpur.
The detection of this case began with the vigilance of officers during the profiling of travelers. Initial suspicions at the inspection counter were promptly followed by a decisive move to conduct further examination at the Immigration Forensic Laboratory. This allowed for a swift and accurate verification of the documents, confirming that the Belgian passports carried by the Iraqi nationals were indeed fake.
Responding to the successful enforcement, the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, expressed his appreciation to his staff while issuing a warning regarding the potential dynamics of global migration.

This is very likely to happen in the future as a form of mass exodus of nationals from Middle Eastern conflicts seeking to enter countries perceived as safe by any means necessary.
Given that the violators consisted of a family including a woman and a toddler, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office ensured that the case was handled with a humanitarian approach.
The in-depth examination process was conducted based on Human Rights (HAM) principles to ensure that the basic needs and comfort of the toddler and their mother were met throughout the investigation and enforcement period.
Ngurah Rai Immigration remains committed to heightening vigilance, strengthening officer competence, and optimizing the use of surveillance technology to prevent threats and immigration law violations from entering Indonesian territory.
