The 2026 GT World Challenge Asia, held at the Mandalika International Circuit from May 1–3, successfully captured the attention of both the public and international tourists. Official records show that 12,522 visitors attended to witness the roar of grand tourer machines competing on the track. This figure represents a significant increase from the previous year’s attendance, which hovered around 9,000. The high level of interest was evident in the packed grandstands and bustling paddock areas throughout the race weekend.
The event delivered a substantial boost to the local tourism and economic sectors. Data from hotels within and surrounding The Mandalika revealed that average occupancy rates reached 86.6% during the period. Several establishments, including Hotel Montana, Novotel, and Bale Secha, reported 100% occupancy. This surge underscores the capacity of international events to stimulate the economy, particularly within the culinary, transportation, and accommodation sectors.

Empowering the Local Workforce and SMEs
Beyond the track, the GT World Challenge Asia 2026 directly engaged 402 local workers from West Nusa Tenggara across various operational roles, including support staff, marshals, race control, and medical teams. Additionally, 250 local residents participated in the opening ceremony, which showcased cultural elements and the unique “sportainment” spirit of The Mandalika. The local economy was further supported by the presence of 17 MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) stationed around the circuit, providing various products and culinary options for visitors.
The event was supported by Bank Mandiri as a partner for sport tourism development at The Mandalika, while the Krida Agya Kartini Race—held in collaboration with Pegadaian—was featured to promote female participation in motorsport.

”The GT World Challenge Asia 2026 did not just deliver an international race; it created a multiplier effect for the region and its people. This includes increased tourism, higher hotel occupancy, MSME activity, and local job creation. The high level of public enthusiasm proves that The Mandalika is solidifying its position as Indonesia’s premier sportainment destination,” Warokka remarked.

The seamless execution of the event was made possible through collaboration with security forces, regulators, local government, and various operational institutions. This collective support ensured a safe and comfortable environment for all participants and visitors.
