The Indonesian government is set to deploy a wave of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Bulgaria, marking a strategic international placement that prioritizes legal compliance, enhanced labor protection, and worker welfare.
The momentum for this initiative was highlighted by the arrival of the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) and Head of BP2MI, Drs. H. Mukhtarudin. He was received by the Deputy Chief of Bali Regional Police, Brigadier General I Made Astawa, in Bali ahead of the official send-off ceremony in Denpasar.
Scheduled for April 2, 2026, at the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel, the deployment is a cornerstone of the government’s mission to expand safe and legal global employment opportunities for Indonesian citizens.
A Commitment to Legal Certainty
The Deputy Chief of Bali Police emphasized that the placement of these workers transcends standard labor logistics; it is a matter of comprehensive state protection.
”This is not merely a deployment of labor; it is a deployment of hope. We are here to ensure that every worker departs safely, remains protected, and possesses clear legal certainty,” stated I Made Astawa.

He further noted that the police force plays an active role in overseeing the placement process to prevent illegal practices, such as non-procedural recruitment, which frequently endangers prospective migrants. Rigorous supervision is being applied from recruitment through to departure to ensure full regulatory compliance.
Collaborative Governance
The program involves licensed private placement agencies, underscoring a critical synergy between the government, law enforcement, and the private sector. This collaboration is key to maintaining a transparent system built on integrity.
Beyond providing employment, the Bulgarian placement is expected to:
• Boost Welfare: Improve the quality of life for workers and their families.
• Economic Impact: Contribute significantly to the national economy through foreign remittances.
• Global Representation: Position Indonesian workers as professional ambassadors of the nation on the global stage.
By strengthening governance and protection frameworks, the government aims to foster a migrant worker ecosystem that is secure, professional, and dedicated to elevating the quality of Indonesian human resources in the international arena.
