
Badung, Eyewitness – Jamie McIntyre’s attorney, Komang Ari Sumartawan, SH, based on a power of attorney granted by PT Bali Real Estate Investments (“BREI”), issued an official statement to the public, media, investors, and all interested parties regarding various news reports, social media posts, and statements circulating in recent days regarding the alleged criminal report allegedly filed against his client. He delivered a press conference in Badung, Bali (June 5, 2026).
“We are issuing this statement because various narratives have developed that tend to be one-sided, unbalanced, and have the potential to mislead the public, giving the impression that our client has committed an unlawful act as alleged by certain parties. However, to date, there has been no court ruling declaring our client guilty of any of the charges,” he said in his opening statement.
Komang Ari reminded all parties that Indonesia is a country based on the rule of law that upholds the principle of the presumption of innocence. Therefore, no one can be found guilty solely based on reports, accusations, media reports, social media posts, or opinions circulating in the public sphere.
Komang Ari clarified that, regarding the alleged criminal report filed against his client, he had not received, either directly from him or through his client, an official copy of the report or any supporting documents that could explain the substance of the allegations made to the public.

“Therefore, we cannot provide a detailed response to a report that has not even been officially shown to us. However, based on information circulating in the media and various digital platforms, there is a systematic effort to build public opinion that our client has defrauded investors in the Marina Bay City project,” he said.
He firmly denied the allegations and argued that his client, Jamie McIntyre, never intended to harm any investors. “On the contrary, from the very beginning, our client has invested significant time, energy, reputation, business networks, and personal funds to ensure the Marina Bay City project can proceed and benefit all parties involved,” he emphasized.
He also revealed several facts that the public needs to know: that from the outset, the project has faced various complex obstacles, including regulatory, permitting, spatial planning, and internal and external issues beyond his client’s direct control.
Background of the Dispute Deliberately Ignored in the News
He frankly stated that the public needs to understand that the current issues cannot be separated from the long-standing business dispute between Adrian Campbell and an entity known as Kinnara Asia on the one hand, and Jamie McIntyre, BREI, and MBI on the other.

“It’s unfortunate that most of the circulating news only presents one side of the story and ignores important facts that are relevant for the public to fully understand.
According to Komang Ari, the narrative that the Marina Bay City project is being constructed as if all the problems are solely caused by his client’s actions is an attempt at a false and misleading simplification.
“The dispute involves various legal aspects, including corporate aspects, contractual aspects, licensing aspects, spatial planning aspects, and investor fund management, all of which still require objective evidence and examination,” he said.
Regarding the Land Acquisition and Permitting Process
Furthermore, Komang Ari stated that based on the information and documents provided to him, during the initial stages of the project, various representations and commitments were made to his client regarding land conditions, zoning status, permit readiness, and the feasibility of project development. Later, as the project progressed, it was discovered that several important aspects required additional resolution that was far more complex than previously anticipated.

“Changes in spatial planning, the need for coordination with various government agencies, land administration processes, and the processing of various technical permits have resulted in additional significant costs, time, and resources. Instead of abandoning the project, our client took full responsibility for resolving these challenges, utilizing significant company and personal resources. In other words, our client’s actions demonstrated a commitment to the project.
“To save the project, not to avoid responsibility,” he explained.
Regarding Investor Fund Flows
Komang Ari emphasized that in this case, one aspect that we believe is most important for the public to know is the investor funds that have been deposited.
“There has been a narrative circulating that all investor funds are under the control of our client. “This narrative does not align with the facts known to our clients,” he said.
According to Komang Ari, based on financial records, bank statements, company documents, and data available to his clients, the amount of funds received by MBI and BREI was approximately USD 3 million. Therefore, the complainants need to explain where they deposited their funds. Furthermore, there is information and documents indicating that the amount of funds collected from investors is allegedly much larger than the amount ultimately received by MBI and BREI. This significant discrepancy raises fundamental questions:
“If it is true that the investor funds collected reached a much larger figure, where were all these funds allocated, where were they deposited, and who controlled the receipts?” said Komang Ari.
According to Komang Ari, these questions are not only important for his clients, but also for all investors who have the right to receive full transparency regarding the use of their deposited funds. That is why his clients have long been pushing for an independent audit, thorough transaction tracing, and examination of all parties involved in the investor fundraising process.
“Our clients believe that transparency is the only way to uncover the truth.” he said.
Use of Funds by MBI and BREI
Komang Ari also added that, contrary to various circulating allegations, the funds received by MBI and BREI were not used for personal gain. The funds were used for project needs, as evidenced by documentation, contracts, payments to third parties, land acquisition, legal fees, consultant fees, permit processing, construction work, infrastructure development, and various other project needs. Furthermore, based on his client’s records, the total expenditures even exceeded the amount of funds received.
“The shortfall was covered using Jamie McIntyre’s personal funds.” “These facts directly contradict the narrative that attempts to portray our client as profiting personally from the situation at issue,” he said.
Regarding Allegations and Statements Made to the Media

“We have received full instructions from our client to pursue all available legal remedies, both criminal and civil, against any parties proven to have committed slander, defamation, disseminating false information, or other actions detrimental to our client’s legal interests,” he emphasized.
