With two weeks remaining before the Golo Mori Sunset Run (GMSR) 2026, public enthusiasm for the running event continues to surge. Registrations have officially surpassed 500 participants, exceeding the committee’s initial target ahead of the race day scheduled for August 22, 2026.
The achievement was announced during the Golo Mori Sunset Run 2026 Press Conference in Labuan Bajo on Friday (7/8), attended by General Manager of The Golo Mori, Wahyuaji Munarwiyanto; representative of Komodo Runners, Febria Lazuardi; Main Sponsor representative from Bank NTT, Roy Nalle; and running enthusiast Etha Djemali.

Organized by The Golo Mori—a unit of InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC)—in collaboration with the Golo Mori Convention Center Management and Komodo Runners, GMSR 2026 is supported by various sponsors and partners. Marking its second edition following a successful debut in 2025, this year’s event carries the theme #BeyondTheLimits. It features a 5K fun run and a fun walk, offering participants the unique experience of running across Golo Mori’s scenic hilly and coastal landscapes during sunset.
General Manager of The Golo Mori, Wahyuaji Munarwiyanto, stated that exceeding the target reflects strong public interest in this year’s event. Even after the regular registration closed on July 31, 2026, the committee continued to receive numerous inquiries from prospective participants.
“We initially targeted 500 participants for the Golo Mori Sunset Run 2026, and we have now surpassed that figure. Even after regular registration closed on July 31, we continued to receive overwhelming interest. To accommodate this demand, we are opening a final ‘Last Call’ registration period from August 7 to August 17, 2026, giving everyone one last opportunity to join GMSR 2026,” said Wahyuaji.

During this Last Call period, the committee is offering a more affordable registration fee. While Last Call entrants will not receive a race pack, they remain fully eligible to participate in the run, join all scheduled event activities, and enter the door prize draw.
Online registration for the Last Call phase is available via Tribun Booking, the official Ticket Management Service for GMSR 2026. Further details regarding registration, participant guidelines, race day information, and updates are accessible on the official Instagram account at golomorium
The high level of enthusiasm extends beyond the runners, with partners and sponsors showing equal dedication to the event’s success.
Roy Nalle, representing Bank NTT, noted that supporting GMSR aligns with the bank’s commitment to driving regional economic potential.

“Events like the Golo Mori Sunset Run hold great potential to generate economic momentum that directly benefits the local community. Notably, the committee is providing free vendor booths for local MSMEs within the event area this year.
We view this as a positive step to offer promotional space and expand business opportunities for local entrepreneurs. Bank NTT remains committed to supporting initiatives that unite the tourism sector, communities, and local businesses,” said Roy.
Komodo Runners representative Febri Lazuardi highlighted the distinctive route as a major draw compared to typical urban runs.
“Golo Mori offers a unique route profile. The terrain presents its own set of challenges, but participants are rewarded with breathtaking views of hills, the sea, and the sunset all in one journey. We are thrilled to see the growing enthusiasm this year. For those who missed the earlier registration, the Last Call phase is the final chance to experience running in Golo Mori,” Febri remarked.
Meanwhile, running enthusiast Etha Djemali emphasized that GMSR goes beyond competition, offering a complete lifestyle and scenic experience.
“The appeal of the Golo Mori Sunset Run isn’t just about the run itself; it’s the overall experience. Running alongside ocean and hill vistas while taking in the sunset with fellow runners offers something truly special. Beginners shouldn’t feel intimidated either—it’s all about running at your own pace and enjoying the moment. If you missed out previously, this Last Call is your chance to be part of it,” Etha said.
With 15 days left until race day, the GMSR 2026 organizing committee is finalizing operational details alongside community partners, sponsors, and key stakeholders. Preparations are being intensified across all fronts, including route safety, security protocols, medical services, water stations, participant facilities, and supporting side events.
Wahyuaji added that as race day approaches, the committee’s primary focus is delivering a seamless experience.
“Our goal is to ensure that participants do not just come to run, but also enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable experience highlighted by Golo Mori’s signature landscape of hills, sea, and sunset. We hope GMSR continues to grow as one of the most anticipated sport tourism events in Labuan Bajo,” Wahyuaji concluded.
