Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented an award to Bali Province for being the most active contributor in supporting the implementation of the 2026 Education Integrity Assessment (SPI Pendidikan). The award was received directly by Bali Governor Wayan Koster during the launch of the 2026 Education Integrity Index at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta.
The award recognizes the Bali Provincial Government’s swift support and data provision for the assessment. KPK Chairman Police Commissioner General (Ret.) Setyo Budiyanto commended Bali’s contribution, stating it sets an example for other regions.

“We hope governors of other regions can emulate what the Bali Governor has accomplished, as his contribution in speed of data submission was extraordinary. Being the fastest in providing data makes them a model for other regions,” Budiyanto said.
Budiyanto explained that the Education Integrity Assessment measures integrity within educational environments, covering student character, the educational ecosystem, and governance. The 2026 assessment involved over 45,000 educational units and approximately 951,000 respondents across Indonesia.
The launch of the index highlighted the necessity of instilling an anti-corruption culture within educational institutions. Budiyanto noted that integrity extends beyond corruption prevention; it must be cultivated through daily practices of honesty, discipline, responsibility, and fairness.
These values begin with simple actions in schools, such as refraining from cheating, not forging assignments, avoiding score manipulation, admitting mistakes, respecting others’ rights, and using school facilities responsibly.

“Schools that teach honesty must actively practice it in their learning and evaluation processes,” he added.
Acting Deputy for Education and Public Participation at the KPK, Dian Novianthi, presented the results to several ministers and regional heads. The assessment serves as an evaluation tool to refine corruption prevention policies in education to support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
In the 2026 assessment, Bali Province achieved an Education Integrity Index score of 74.08, placing it in the “Adaptive” category.
Scores across Bali’s nine regencies and cities were closely aligned. Buleleng led with a score of 79.06, followed by Tabanan (78.85), Bangli (77.39), Klungkung (77.09), Karangasem (76.93), Denpasar (76.92), Gianyar (76.52), Jembrana (76.40), and Badung (76.26), yielding a simple average of 77.27.
Five regions—Karangasem, Denpasar, Gianyar, Jembrana, and Badung—were categorized as Adaptive, while Buleleng, Tabanan, Bangli, and Klungkung fell into the Corrective category.
The KPK plans to disseminate detailed findings and recommendations to encourage follow-up actions and improve governance.
For Governor Koster, reinforcing honesty through education represents a vital long-term investment.
“We must continuously support and strengthen anti-corruption education. Values of honesty, integrity, and responsibility need to be instilled early on so they become part of everyday character,” Koster stated, stressing that building clean governance relies heavily on character development in schools before students enter the workforce or public service.
