Denpasar | October 17, 2026
The 2026 Bali Climate Week—an annual initiative by the Bali Net Zero Emission Coalition in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bali—hosted its flagship “Innovation Tour” from October 15–16, 2026. Spanning 9 locations across Buleleng, Gianyar, Klungkung, Denpasar, Badung, and Bangli, the event featured 13 key partners. The tour spotlighted real-world climate innovations spearheaded by grassroots communities, climate entrepreneurs, traditional villages (desa adat), NGOs, and local groups as they pave the way toward a Net Zero Bali by 2045.
1. Driving Circular Economy via Optimized TPS3R in Sidakarya Village, Denpasar
As a pioneer of eco-conscious communities in Denpasar, Sidakarya Village leverages its Waste Management Facility (TPS3R) to tackle Bali’s pressing waste crisis. Partnering with the New Energy Nexus-incubated startup Sangkara, the village transforms inorganic waste—including plastics, paper, bottles, and used cooking oil—into valuable economic opportunities through a robust circular economy model.
2. Mobility Reform via Low Emission Zone in Sanur
To foster a sustainable and equitable urban environment in Sanur, WRI Indonesia is implementing the Bali Low Emission Zone Initiative (BLEZI). Key interventions include pedestrian pathway upgrades, electric shuttle services, rooftop solar PV installations at Intaran Market, and tactical urbanism at Segara Ayu Beach. This demonstrates how multi-stakeholder collaboration and concrete action can thrive on a neighborhood scale.

3. The “Utak-Atik” Village: A Hub of Clean Energy Experimentation
Utak-Atik Village serves as an experimental space for clean energy innovation where technology, community, and culture intersect to address local challenges in Bali. Showcasing how regenerative systems sprout from experimentation, collaboration, and the spirit of utak-atik—the courage to tinker, build, fail, learn, and try again—this initiative celebrates grassroots innovation.

4. MantaOne Empowering Fishers in Kusamba Village, Klungkung
Introduced by Azura Indonesia, the deployment of MantaOne helps local fishers transition from fossil-fueled engines to lower-emission, highly efficient electric marine technology.

5. Steps Toward a Net Zero Village in Sanding Village, Gianyar
By combining maggot-based organic waste management with renewable energy utilization, Sanding Village is building a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Backed by Maybank and Benihbaik, this initiative promotes energy efficiency while turning waste into valuable community resources.

6. Growing Coffee, Preserving Harmony in Wanagiri
Spearheaded by Kopernik and ReservoAir, the Wanagiri agroforestry initiative seeks to build climate-resilient coffee cultivation. Driven by the local Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes), efforts to restore critical land into productive soil form the foundation of a regenerative economy in North Bali. Through sustainable, educational, and participatory practices, this community-led restoration proves that climate mitigation and local livelihood enhancement can go hand-in-hand.

7. Recharge Wells in Kemenuh, Gianyar
Developed by IDEP through the Bali Water Protection program, recharge wells are a crucial groundwater conservation effort. By channeling rainwater back into aquifers, these wells enhance infiltration, support groundwater replenishment, and protect Bali’s critical water reserves as part of a sustainable water resource management strategy.

8. PoreBlock in Awan Village, Kintamani, Bangli
Implemented in Awan Village, Kintamani, PoreBlock represents community-led water management designed to boost rainwater infiltration and mitigate surface runoff. As a permeable paving solution, PoreBlock allows rainwater to naturally seep into the soil, bolstering village-level water recharge when combined with absorption wells in an integrated management approach.

9. Canggu Circular: Turning Waste Into Opportunity in Badung
How can Canggu’s businesses embrace the circular economy? Through Bali Climate Week 2026, su-re.co invited F&B operators, hotels, and resorts to explore sustainable solutions—ranging from electric motorcycle conversions and organic waste-to-compost systems to circular farming practices. Featuring tech showcases, planting workshops, and “Think–Do–Be” collaborative forums, the event galvanized a shared commitment to building a greener, more efficient, and sustainable business ecosystem in Canggu.
