The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), alongside the Director General of Immigration, has strengthened border checkpoint surveillance through the implementation of the Interpol Global Hit Alert System (24/7 I-GHAS).

The application, launched at the Rupatama building of the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (Nov 5, 2026), allows immigration officers to quickly verify individuals flagged as international fugitives across 196 Interpol member countries.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko welcomed the launch of this collaborative system to accelerate information exchange in border regions.

“We warmly welcome the initiative by the National Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) to establish the 24/7 I-GHAS. How communication and collaboration have been tightly forged, especially at border checkpoints, will now be connected through a system that is far more precise, rapid, and accurate,” Hendarsam stated.

He added that effective border surveillance requires accurate technological support to prevent transnational crime threats right at Indonesia’s entry points.

“Our joint commitment is grounded in sharing the same doctrine and orientation: Immigration for the people, the Police for the community,” Hendarsam emphasized.

The launch of 24/7 I-GHAS was attended by National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto and the Head of the National Police’s International Relations Division, Inspector General Untung Widyamoko. Through this system, immigration officers at checkpoints can connect directly with the National Police’s Divhubinter to identify and handle fugitives and cross-border criminals.

National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto explained that this technology is crucial given the complexity of handling transnational crimes, such as human trafficking (TPPO) and drug smuggling.

“This is a collaborative breakthrough between the Indonesian National Police and Immigration. Naturally, this aims to strengthen the surveillance of international fugitives and cross-border criminals at Indonesia’s entry points,” said Suyudi.

Looking ahead, the 24/7 I-GHAS platform is planned for further development by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and biometric data integration by 2027.

”Through this data integration, Immigration and the National Police strive to tighten cross-border human traffic monitoring, without compromising the smoothness of immigration services for the public,” Hendarsam concluded.
