Jakarta, Eyewitness – The Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs imposed Administrative Immigration Sanctions (TAK) on 10,911 foreign nationals in 2026.
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated that this enforcement activity increased by 146.49 percent compared to the same period (January through August) in 2025.
He explained that these administrative actions were taken against foreign nationals deemed not to be contributing, those disturbing public order, or those committing immigration administrative violations.
Hendarsam explained that this measure is part of Immigration’s efforts to ensure that the presence of foreign nationals in Indonesia continues to have a positive impact without compromising security and public order.
“We issued 10,911 administrative sanctions. That is a 146 percent increase from the previous year; the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement is currently very active in accelerating enforcement actions,” he told reporters on Wednesday (August 12).
Additionally, Hendarsam noted that his agency issued entry bans against 2,678 foreign nationals. This figure, he said, represents a 58.79 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, regarding *pro justitia* criminal law enforcement processes, 27 cases were recorded—a 50 percent decrease compared to 2025.
“We also implemented travel bans on 478 individuals, which is a decrease of 80.98 percent,” he stated.
However, he noted that not all violations committed by foreign nationals result in immediate deportation.
Some violations require undergoing the *pro justitia* legal process. This depends on the classification of the violation committed.
“Indeed, we must look at the classification of the act to determine whether it constitutes merely an administrative violation or falls within the realm of criminal law,” he said.
