KPK Arrested Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim Among 17 people, 10 People from Bali

Jakarta, Eyewitness – Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Wamen Imipas) Silmy Karim finally surrendered to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday (June 3).

Silmy is one of the individuals being pursued by the KPK in connection with a series of sting operations (OTT) in West Jakarta on June 2-3, 2026.

Media crews at the scene observed Silmy, wearing a batik shirt and escorted by several bodyguards, arriving at 10:32 PM WIB. Some of Silmy’s bodyguards who obstructed the journalists caused a commotion and assaulted him.

At the time of publication, Silmy, who preferred to remain tight-lipped, had already entered the questioning room on the second floor of the KPK building. He only briefly answered questions about his activities following the sting operation and the subsequent pursuit of the Head of West Jakarta Immigration.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also arrested the former Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam, and the Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra.

These arrests were part of a sting operation (OTT) against the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office (Kakanim) conducted by the KPK on June 2-3, 2026.

“It’s true that the Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period was also arrested. His initials are G,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday evening (June 3).

In the sting operation, the KPK arrested a total of 17 people. Ten people were arrested from Bali. Eight were state officials and civil servants (PNS), while the other nine were from the private sector.

“Of these individuals, two were arrested in Bali. One state official was arrested in West Java, including the Head of the West Java Regional Office and the Head of the West Java Immigration Office. The remaining individuals were arrested in Jakarta and the surrounding areas,” said Budi.

In addition, the KPK’s enforcement team also seized several pieces of evidence during the sting operation, which took place on June 2-3, 2026. These included seven cars, 15 motorcycles, 11 bicycles, foreign currency, and gold bullion.

“Tonight, the KPK will hold a case presentation to determine the legal status of the arrested individuals. So, we will all wait and see who will be named as suspects in this sting operation,” said Budi.

This sting operation relates to the processing of permits for foreign nationals to stay in Indonesia.

“Regarding the construction of the charges, we’ll wait and see because the exposé will be held tonight. Whether the charges will be under Article 12e, extortion, bribery, or other forms of bribery. Let’s wait and see. We’ll update later,” he concluded.
