EyewitnessNews – The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT), through the Papua, West Papua, and Maluku Regional Office (Kanwil DJP Papabrama), simultaneously blocked the accounts of taxpayers with outstanding taxes from June 2-4, 2026. This action targeted the accounts of 36 taxpayers.
“The accounts are spread across 14 major banks headquartered in Jakarta, Tangerang, and Jayapura, including state-owned banks, regional development banks, and national private banks,” said Sekti Widihartanto, Head of the Papabrama Regional Office, in a written statement on Monday (June 8, 2026).
This measure is part of the tax collection process regulated by statutory regulations. The total tax arrears from the 36 taxpayers who underwent collection measures reached IDR 17,076,129,628.
“This figure demonstrates the potential for state revenue that still needs to be secured through consistent and ongoing tax law enforcement,” explained Sekti.
The simultaneous blocking was implemented thanks to the synergy between seven Tax Service Offices (KPP) within the Papabrama Regional Tax Office and banking institutions. Sekti stated that tax law enforcement is not solely about taking action, but also about encouraging taxpayer awareness and compliance.
By implementing active collection through this simultaneous blocking, it is hoped that taxpayers will promptly fulfill their obligations to avoid further legal action. A persuasive and educational approach is prioritized so that taxpayers fulfill their tax obligations correctly, completely, and on time.
With this action, the Directorate General of Taxes hopes that taxpayers will be more cooperative in fulfilling their tax obligations, thereby creating a better compliance climate in the future.
“The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) ensures that tax collection will continue to be carried out consistently, measurably, professionally, and sustainably. Law enforcement measures taken always adhere to applicable regulations, as a form of implementing its duties to maintain the stability of state revenues,” he said.(*)
