THE MANDALIKA, March 1, 2026 – InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the developer and manager of the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), has intensified rapid response efforts following extreme rainfall that struck Lombok on Feb. 23–24. As part of community recovery initiatives, ITDC distributed 70 essential food packages to affected residents in the Mandalika SEZ, Central Lombok, on Friday (Feb. 27).
The hydrometeorological event, triggered by high-intensity rainfall and volatile weather patterns, resulted in flooding across 10 hamlets in Kuta Village and nine locations within the Mandalika SEZ. Since the onset, ITDC has coordinated with the Kuta Village Government and the River Basin Territory Office (BWS) to implement emergency measures, including road closures and accelerated zone normalization. Joint teams also conducted inspections at the West Ground Water Tank (GWT), followed by sediment dredging using heavy machinery.

ITDC Operations Director Troy Warokka emphasized that the recovery efforts extend beyond infrastructure. “Disaster management focuses not only on physical aspects but also on the social and psychological recovery of the community. This support is part of ITDC’s commitment to ensuring residents can recover and return to their daily activities,” Warokka said.

Prioritizing the well-being of affected children, ITDC hosted a “Post-Disaster Trauma Healing” session at the Mandalika Child Learning Center (MCLC) on Saturday (Feb. 28), in collaboration with the Gugah Nurani Indonesia (GNI) Foundation. The program engaged children in interactive storytelling and music sessions to support emotional recovery. Additionally, ITDC distributed 58 school kit packages to help students resume their education. The Pullman Lombok Mandalika also supported the event by providing meals for the participants.
ITDC, alongside various stakeholders, pledged to continue monitoring post-flood conditions and restoring the area in stages. Infrastructure normalization, social support, and enhanced mitigation strategies will remain ongoing until community life and regional operations are fully restored.
