The Badung District Police (Polres Badung) on 30 April 2026, have announced a major breakthrough in combating narcotics and property crimes within the region. In a press conference held today, Badung Police Chief, Senior Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Joseph E. Purba, accompanied by the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, detailed the successful operations conducted between February and April 2026.

Major Drug Bust: Hundreds of Packages Secured
​From February 11 to April 20, 2026, the Narcotics Investigation Unit apprehended 15 male suspects, including one repeat offender. The police seized hundreds of ready-to-use crystal methamphetamine (shabu) packages and hundreds of grams of marijuana during a series of targeted raids.
​Investigators revealed several modi operandi used by the suspects:
• ​Courier Disguise: Posing as online motorcycle taxi (ojek) drivers to distribute drugs.
• ​”Treeing” Method: Placing drug packages at predetermined locations coordinated via social media.
• ​Economic Motivation: Suspects cited financial pressure and personal addiction as primary motives for their involvement in the trade.

The total market value of the seized drugs is estimated to exceed IDR 475 million. Officials state that this operation has potentially saved approximately 10,500 lives from the dangers of narcotics. The suspects face charges under the Narcotics Act, carrying penalties ranging from 4 to 20 years in prison.

Crackdown on Theft and Street Crime
​Simultaneously, Kombes Pol Joseph E. Purba highlighted the achievements of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) and local police sectors from April 1 to April 30, 2026.
​Authorities successfully cleared 15 criminal cases involving aggravated theft (Curat), violent robbery (Curas), and motor vehicle theft (Curanmor). A total of 15 male suspects were arrested across various locations, including residential areas, construction sites, marketplaces, and the Petang district.
​Recovered Assets Include:
• ​11 motorcycles of various makes.
• ​3 mobile phones.
• ​Cash and gold jewelry.
• ​Public infrastructure items (street lights and electrical cables).
​Under the Indonesian Penal Code, the suspects face a maximum of 7 years in prison or fines of up to IDR 500 million.
