Badung, Eyewitnessnews – The Kerobokan Class IIA Women’s Prison has once again demonstrated its commitment to maintaining security and order by conducting simultaneous joint raids and urine tests.
This activity follows directives from the Director General of Corrections, Drs. Mashudi, aimed at enhancing vigilance and early detection to prevent security and order disturbances in prisons, juvenile correctional centers, and detention centers across Indonesia.
The operation involved personnel from the Badung Resort Police (Polres), the North Kuta Sector Police (Polsek), the 1611/Badung Military District Command (Kodim), and the Badung Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNN), with guidance provided by I Wayan Putu Sutresna—Head of the Service and Rehabilitation Division at the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections—alongside the Regional Office’s Internal Compliance (Patnal) team.
Prior to the operation, all personnel attended a joint roll call and briefing to align their understanding of the procedural details for the raids and urine tests.
These measures were taken to ensure the entire operation was conducted professionally, systematically, humanely, and in accordance with applicable regulations. The joint team then carried out thorough inspections of inmate housing units and the personal belongings of the inmates.
The inspections served as a preventive measure to detect prohibited items or objects that could potentially compromise security and order within the prison environment. Items discovered during the search were secured, inventoried, and processed in accordance with regulations.
On the same day, the Kerobokan Women’s Prison also conducted urine tests on a number of staff members and inmates. This activity was part of an early detection effort regarding potential narcotics abuse and served to reinforce the commitment to creating a correctional environment that is safe, orderly, healthy, and drug-free.
The inspection proceeded in an orderly manner under the supervision of officers and with assistance from the Badung Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNN). Ni Luh Putu Andiyani, Head of the Kerobokan Class IIA Women’s Prison, stated that the joint raid and urine testing were two complementary strategic measures designed to strengthen the prison’s oversight and early detection systems.
“Synergy with the TNI (Military), Polri (Police), and BNN, alongside support from the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections, plays a crucial role in enhancing early detection and preventing potential threats to security and order. Searches are conducted to ensure the absence of contraband, while urine tests are performed to detect potential drug abuse.
Both measures reflect our commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly, and conducive environment at the Kerobokan Women’s Prison, thereby ensuring that rehabilitation programs can proceed optimally,” she stated.
A representative from the TNI expressed support for the measures taken by the Kerobokan Women’s Prison, viewing them as a way to strengthen inter-agency synergy in maintaining security stability within the correctional system.
“We support the prison’s efforts to maintain security and order. Such synergy is vital for the early prevention of potential security disturbances,” he said. Echoing this sentiment, a representative from the National Police (Polri) commended the joint raid as an effective collaborative effort to create a safe and conducive environment.
“We stand ready to support the prison staff in maintaining security and order. Activities like this serve as a preventive measure to detect potential issues while strengthening coordination between the prison and law enforcement agencies,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the involvement of the Badung Regency BNN in the urine testing process demonstrated tangible synergy in supporting efforts to prevent and eradicate drug abuse and illicit trafficking within the correctional environment.
Through the continued implementation of joint raids and urine testing, the Kerobokan Class IIA Women’s Prison reaffirms its commitment to strengthening oversight, heightening vigilance, and fostering collaboration with all stakeholders.
