Management at PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, together with the broader airport community, will conduct a full-scale Airport Emergency Exercise (AEE) next week on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The full-scale drill is held periodically to evaluate personnel readiness, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and inter-agency coordination in managing airport emergencies.

“Bali is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. As a primary gateway to the island, we remain committed to upholding the highest standards of operational safety and security at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The Airport Emergency Exercise is crucial to testing and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are fully prepared to handle any crisis,” said Nugroho Jati, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Jati explained that the exercise aims to test the effectiveness of the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) and existing response procedures. It also serves to enhance staff readiness and ensure that command, coordination, and communication protocols across units and external agencies function seamlessly during emergency scenarios.

“This year’s exercise features three core scenarios: a Building Fire Exercise, an Airport Security Exercise, and an Aircraft Accident Exercise. Each scenario is designed to test personnel readiness and procedural effectiveness across various conditions, ranging from building fires and security threats to a simulated aircraft crash,” Jati added.

Maintaining this level of preparedness, we can guarantee the safety and security of all passengers and support smooth flight operations

Designed to mirror real-life conditions, the exercise helps identify areas for procedural refinement while testing real-time coordination, synergy, and rapid response capabilities across the airport community.

“Through this exercise, we want to ensure every staff member clearly understands their specific role and responsibilities. By maintaining this level of preparedness, we can guarantee the safety and security of all passengers and support smooth flight operations,” Jati said.

Airport management has advised all passengers and visitors on-site to remain calm and follow staff instructions if they encounter activities associated with the drill.

The exercise is a planned, fully coordinated event, and normal flight operations will continue without disruption.
