Following up on a joint intelligence analysis with the Bali-Nusa Tenggara Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise regarding illicit drug shipments destined for Denpasar, Bali, the Head of the Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP Bali), Brig. Gen. Dr. Putu Putera Sadana, ordered the agency’s enforcement team to launch an immediate investigation.
Based on a controlled delivery operation, the enforcement team arrested a young man identified by his initials GAS, alias Boing, at his residence on Jl. Taman Pancing, Denpasar, shortly after he received the package on Friday (July 31).
In the presence of community witnesses, officers searched the premises and seized evidence hidden inside a package disguised as a used motorcycle exhaust. The seized items included 19 vape cartridges suspected of containing etomidate and 11.12 grams net weight of marijuana.
In addition to the package’s contents, officers found 64.5 ecstasy pills and three sachets of a viscous liquid suspected to be “happy water” inside the suspect’s boarding room.
According to the suspect’s confession and an inspection of his communication devices, he was being controlled by an individual named Sangap, who is currently residing in Cambodia.
The suspect admitted he was instructed by Sangap to retrieve the drug package, which was shipped by an associate of Sangap using the sender name “Bang Gogon,” dispatched from Medan. The suspect claimed he did not know Gogon personally.
The suspect and all evidence were subsequently transported to the BNNP Bali headquarters for further interrogation and investigation by detectives.
The Head of BNNP Bali highlighted that narcotics forms are evolving rapidly transitioning from solid to liquid formats accompanied by novel tactics from traffickers.
”This bust demonstrates the vital synergy between agencies in protecting Bali from illicit drug trafficking. As a global tourist destination, we must collectively safeguard Bali so it remains unpolluted by narcotics that threaten our young generation, the future of our nation,” he said.
