As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Democratic Party and the “Langit Biru Asri Indonesia Asri” (Blue Sky, Beautiful Indonesia) initiative held in Bali this year, a community blood drive drew strong turnout starting from 8:00 AM WITA until its conclusion. Party officials, members, and journalists joined the cause to donate blood.
I Made Sada Dego, Secretary-General of the Democratic Party’s Bali chapter, along with cadres, supporters, and officials from DPC, DPD, DPAC, and sub-district branches across Bali, led humanitarian efforts today. The agenda included the blood drive and charity visits to two orphanages—Sayangi Bali in North Denpasar, and another in East Denpasar later in the afternoon.
“Today’s momentum serves not only to maintain our health, but also as an act of charity and solidarity. Blood donation saves lives, and our target is to gather 50 blood bags. We are also sharing essentials and beverages with children in orphanages who need our support,” Made Sada explained.
Dra. Utami Dwi Suryadi, representing the Badung branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), reported that 25 bags of blood had been successfully collected by 10:00 AM WITA.
In appreciation of the positive collaboration with the Democratic Party in Bali, PMI presented a Certificate of Appreciation and commemorative tumblers to the party’s Secretary-General.
Made Sada Dego added that prospective donors underwent a screening process before participating. Donors filled out personal information via a QR code link, followed by blood pressure checks and standard screening questions regarding sleep deprivation or medication usage. Those who did not meet PMI standards were ineligible to donate.
“Donations must come from individuals who are physically and mentally healthy to ensure safe supply for patients in need. We must sustain this initiative and pass down this spirit of social responsibility to future generations, this spirit must remain a cause we strive for and win on behalf of those in need” he said.
