Eyewitness | Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa, along with the Chairman of the Badung Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), I Gusti Anom Gumanti, conducted a field inspection of the pedestrian area development along Kuta Beach on Saturday (July 4, 2026). The review was conducted to ensure the project was proceeding according to plan as part of efforts to improve the quality of Bali’s leading tourist area.
In the first phase in 2026, the Badung Regency Government is focusing on pedestrian development on the east side of Kuta Beach Road. The pedestrian path is designed to be approximately 3.5 meters wide and includes landscaping to create a more comfortable and safe public space, while enhancing the aesthetics of the tourist area.
Regent Adi Arnawa stated that the pedestrian development is part of the Badung Regency Government’s overall strategy to improve the quality of tourism infrastructure while providing a welcoming public space for the community and tourists.
“Kuta Beach is a Balinese tourism icon whose quality we must continue to maintain. This pedestrian development is not just about building sidewalks, but creating a more organized, comfortable, safe, and classy tourist area, providing the best experience for the public and tourists visiting Badung,” said Adi Arnawa.
After the first phase of construction is completed, the development will continue to the Padma area in the north, so that the entire Kuta Beach corridor will be connected by a representative and comfortable pedestrian path.
For Adi Arnawa, the success of this program requires the support of all stakeholders, especially the community and businesses along the Kuta Beach area.
“We invite all residents and businesses to jointly support this program. For buildings or land uses located on the beach border that do not comply with regulations, they will certainly be regulated according to regulations. The goal is not merely to regulate, but to create a more orderly, beautiful Kuta Beach area that provides benefits for all parties,” he explained.
Regent Adi Arnawa further stated that in addition to the pedestrian development, the Regency Government is also working to improve the quality of the Kuta Beach area. Badung also aligns this program with the coastal erosion mitigation currently underway through breakwater construction. Once the coastal protection work is complete, the government will continue with beach nourishment to restore the function and beauty of the coastal area.
“The improvement of the Kuta Beach area is also part of our commitment to strengthening Bali’s tourism competitiveness through infrastructure development oriented towards tourist comfort, improving the quality of public spaces, and ensuring the sustainability of the coastal environment,” he said.
Going forward, he also plans to improve the road on the west side of Kuta Beach, including the possibility of widening the pedestrian path to provide more space for pedestrians.
“With the area becoming more organized, integrated, and supported by adequate infrastructure, we hope Kuta Beach will maintain its position as one of Indonesia’s leading tourist destinations, able to compete internationally while also positively impacting regional economic growth and community welfare,” he concluded.
