Jakarta, Eyewitness | President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong led the Indonesia–Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, which took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (July 6, 2026). The annual meeting served as an important opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their strategic partnership through discussions on priority issues and the signing of several cooperation agreements in various sectors.
In a joint press statement following the meeting, President Prabowo emphasized the strong strategic relationship between the two countries.
“This is our second Leaders’ Retreat. I also recall that Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was the first foreign leader or high-ranking official to pay a state visit to Indonesia after I took office as President of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
The Head of State also stated that the discussions were open, constructive, and forward-looking, with economic cooperation remaining a key pillar of bilateral relations. He stated that the stability and prosperity of both Indonesia and Singapore are shared interests that must be maintained through mutually beneficial collaboration.
“This meeting resulted in 26 concrete achievements in various fields. Eighteen agreements on government-to-government cooperation and eight agreements between business-to-business partners. These achievements reflect the growing breadth and depth of our cooperation,” the President said.
The eight cooperation documents exchanged before the two leaders included:
Joint Report to Leaders on Six Working Groups on Economic Bilateral Cooperation between the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore, Gan Kim Yong;
Joint Statement on Supply Chain Resilience between the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore, Gan Kim Yong;
MoU for Collaboration on Carbon Credits under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement between the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore, Gan Kim Yong;
Joint Update on Defense Cooperation between the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and the Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister of Defense of the Republic of Singapore, Chan Chun Sing;
Roadmap to catalyze cross-border electricity trade between the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming of the Republic of Indonesia and CEO of Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and the Minister of Manpower, also Minister for Manpower, and Minister for Energy, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Singapore, Tan See Leng;
B2B MoUs between Danantara – Keppel, Danantara – Singapore Energy Interconnections, and Danantara – Sembcorp, between Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstream Development and CEO of Danantara, and Ong Teng Koon, CEO of Singapore Energy Interconnections; Bong Huey Yun Janice, Managing Director of Integrated Power Business, Keppel Infrastructure Division; and Lim Kwang Ming, Chief Financial and Investment Officer of Sembcorp;
MoU on Strategic Digital Cooperation on Digital Infrastructure between Telkom and the Economic Development Board of Singapore, presented by Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Investment and Downstream Development of the Republic of Indonesia and CEO of Danantara, and Jermaine Loy, Managing Director of the Economic Development Board;
MoU on Trade AI Advisor between Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mark Lee Kean Phi, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation.
In addition to the eight documents exchanged during the ceremony, Indonesia and Singapore also announced 18 other collaborations covering various areas, including women’s empowerment and child protection, research and innovation, the environment, nuclear safety, health, youth and sports, financial technology, education, air connectivity, industrial estate development, renewable energy, and investment, as follows:

Ahead of the 60th anniversary of Indonesia-Singapore diplomatic relations, President Prabowo affirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continue maintaining friendship and strengthening strategic collaboration with Singapore to provide tangible benefits for both countries and their people.
