Synergizing with the Provincial Governments of NTT, NTB, and Bali, Bank Mandiri Strengthens Cross-Sector Disaster Response Collaboration via “Mandiri Peduli”

NTT, BaliEyewitnessNews – Bank Mandiri has stepped up through the “Mandiri Peduli NTT” program—part of the broader “Mandiri untuk Negeri” (Mandiri for the Nation) initiative—to deliver humanitarian aid to residents affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday, August 15, 2026. This initiative reflects Bank Mandiri’s care and concern for the communities impacted by the disaster.

“Mandiri Peduli NTT” serves as a moment of synergy for the nation. As a strategic partner in the KR-BNN regional cooperation framework (involving Bali, NTB, and NTT), Bank Mandiri is collaborating with the Government, Danantara Indonesia, BP BUMN, BPBD, and the provincial governments of Bali, NTB, and NTT to strengthen integrated disaster response efforts. This synergy involves the Governors of Bali (Wayan Koster), NTB (Lalu Muhamad Iqbal), and NTT (Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena) through cooperation spanning needs assessment, aid distribution, and field monitoring.

NTT Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena expressed appreciation for Bank Mandiri’s support, noting the bank’s consistent presence in assisting the people of NTT, including through the KR-BNN regional partnership. “Bank Mandiri is a partner that consistently supports NTT Province, including within the KR-BNN regional cooperation framework. The support provided since the onset of the emergency response phase is deeply meaningful to the community, and we are grateful for the care Bank Mandiri continues to show toward NTT,” said Melki on Thursday, August 20, 2026 .

The collaboration with KR-BNN has accelerated the distribution of aid to affected areas, making the delivery process more effective. The established synergy also enables the optimization of resources across various agencies, ensuring that the emergency response is faster and more targeted. An earthquake centered in the waters north of Nagekeo Regency caused damage to various buildings and disruptions to electricity and telecommunications networks, forcing some residents to evacuate. In response, Bank Mandiri acted swiftly to ensure the continuity of banking services while simultaneously supporting the basic needs of the affected communities.

Through a rapid response initiative, Bank Mandiri distributed aid to the most vulnerable residents in several affected areas. Aid distribution was prioritized for the hardest-hit locations and was regularly monitored to ensure the assistance effectively met on-the-ground needs.

Dozens of “Mandirian” volunteers were directly involved in the distribution process across various locations, including Labuan Bajo, Maumere, Ruteng, Ende, Bajawa, and Larantuka. The aid provided included essential goods and basic supplies—such as rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sugar, coffee, tea, eggs, mineral water, bread, milk, snacks, energy drinks, tents, floor mats, baby diapers, medicines, and blankets—tailored to the specific needs of each community.

Alexander Jonathan Patty, Regional CEO of Bank Mandiri Region XI (Bali and Nusa Tenggara), stated that the “Mandiri Peduli NTT” (Mandiri Cares for NTT) initiative reflects Bank Mandiri’s commitment to the community and its synergy with various stakeholders in addressing the needs of those affected.

“We share the grief and concern regarding the situation faced by the people of NTT. Through ‘Mandiri Peduli NTT,’ we—alongside Bank Mandiri volunteers—continue to strengthen coordination and synergy with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and other parties to ensure aid is distributed quickly, safely, and in alignment with community needs. The spirit of *gotong royong* (mutual cooperation) plays a vital role in ensuring the community receives support during the emergency response period,” Alex said in an official statement on Thursday (August 20).

Throughout this effort, employee safety remained the top priority. Bank Mandiri’s management also continuously monitored the well-being of employees, office operations, and service networks in the affected areas to ensure that customer services continued to function effectively during the emergency response period. Bank Mandiri ensures that its digital services and transaction networks—including Livin’ by Mandiri, Kopra by Mandiri, Livin’ Merchant, ATMs, and EDC terminals—remain accessible, thereby ensuring that the transaction needs of customers and the public continue to be met.

As part of its disaster response efforts, Bank Mandiri is paying special attention to several affected areas, including West Manggarai Regency (Labuan Bajo), Nagekeo Regency (Ende), Sikka Regency (Maumere), Manggarai Regency (Ruteng), Ende Regency (Ende), Ngada Regency (Bajawa), and East Manggarai Regency (Borong).

In addition to distributing basic aid, Bank Mandiri volunteers are also supporting the operation of evacuation posts and the logistical needs of emergency response personnel at the affected locations. This step is part of Bank Mandiri’s efforts to directly assist affected communities while ensuring that aid reaches its intended recipients.

This series of actions is part of Bank Mandiri’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which consistently supports the community in facing emergency situations and post-disaster recovery processes.

“May the affected communities be granted strength and resilience; Bank Mandiri will continue to stand by them until conditions gradually recover,” concluded Alex.
